WFP on World Water Day

Over the past three years, the WCS AWWA has sent donations received from Water For People fundraising to projects in Peru. The impact of your donation dollars has significantly impacted the Cascas and Ascuncion regions of Peru.

  • In Cascas 85% of schools and clinics now have access to safe water – that is 54 schools and 4 clinics.
  • 40% of households now have safe water to drink and 53% have clean and functioning latrines.
  • In Ascuncion 92% of schools and clinics now have access to safe water – that is 46 schools and 4 clinics.
  • 72% of households now have safe water to drink, and 70% have clean and functioning latrines.

We will keep working until these numbers reach 100% and the monitoring will continue for ten years. On World Water Day (Wednesday, March 22), we want to express our gratitude for your past and future contributions. We encourage you to take the time to learn more about the Water For People and the real change we're affecting. We can learn from their model of local empowerment, harnessing enterprenuership and ongoing monitoring that can be applied to our work as water professionals at home too.

Everyone. Forever.
